New Farm was originally known as Binkinba by the Turrbal people, which means place of the land tortoises. The suburb sits along the Brisbane River and is 2kms East of the Brisbane CBD.
Patrick Logan built a farm in the area in 1827, and the suburb derived its name from the many farms that were established along the nourishing soil.
